FAQs

You should at least be able to swim on your own. Although you will be connected to your floating surfboard by a leash intermediate courses approach the lineup with no sand beneath your feet.
We would evaluate you as an intermediate surfer, if you are able to catch and surf medium sized (up to shoulder-high) green (unbroken) waves on your own, doing first maneuvers, with a hardboard and know how to duck-dive or turtle-roll in order to paddle through the withewater to reach the lineup.
For surfing you will get all material from us. This includes wetsuit, board and leash. You should have a towel and bikini/shorts/speedo to wear underneath the wetsuit, if you prefer to. We do recommend bringing sun screen (or blocker/ zinc) and something cozy to wear (hoodie, beanie) after the surf lesson in case the weather and water conditions might cool you down a bit.
Since we are a mobile surf school, we will choose the best beach or reef break for you to surf, depending on wind / wave conditions and according to your skills and goals. The surf spot will be announced before the lesson. We will surf beaches and reefs at the south and the west coast in a radius of about 45 minutes driving from our surf schools base, usually choosing the nearest best surf spot possible.
Depends on your goals and style. Going long always means catching waves more ease and ride them with more stability. Shortboards are not so forgiving on posture or balance mistakes. Catching waves is much harder, but if you do they shine with better maneuverability. But for now, don't worry about it. Try a MiniMalibu (7'6'') and focus on catching and riding as many waves as possible.
